Shilin Of The Wind
Air tickled the limbs of the cherry trees, breathing the scent of night and nectar in the air. Beneath the blossoming trees sleeps a dreaming fox, her slumber growing ever deeper as the wind soothes her fur. She shivers, and a low growl escapes her lips, her claws scrape the ground. A nightmare. Within her subconscious, a great kitsune with many tails stands before her, she cannot make a sound. He tells her she is special. She has a destiny to fulfill. Her dream changes, she is in the sky. She can walk on clouds. She was born with the gift, but none know but her. She lands back on earth, but a fellow fox has seen her power. He tells of her power. The other foxes shun her, call her a demon. She runs. Runs until she cannot run anymore. Then she dreams of the many-tailed fox spirit. She has a destiny. She is not a demon. She has nothing to fear. A flash of lightning awakens her from her deep slumber. But she remembers the last words of the kitsune.
"Shilin, you are a Goddess"
Shilin awakens from her dream, stretching and yawning to shake herself awake. What an odd dream I keep having. She thought. I swear I've had that same dream for at least a month! Shilin sighs and lifts her nose to scent the air. She could smell cherries, nectar, blueberries…..and honey! Yes! A perfect morning snack, I just love fresh honey! Shilin followed the scent of sweet honey, skipping her merry way. It didn't take long for her to come across the bee hive. Shilin stalked around the trunk of the tree the hive hung from, making sure none of the bees noticed her presence. Shilin silently clawed her way up the tree, coming closer and closer to her prize. Just as Shilin made to knock the hive from the branch, a black bear came stomping under the tree. Shilin hissed and retreated to the tree's trunk, backing away from the sweet fresh honey. Stupid bears! They ruin everything! I hate bears! This is my honey! Shilin crawled back towards the hive and released a menacing growl at the bear. "Back off fuzz ball, I was here first! " Shilin snapped. The bear snorted and swiped his claws at Shilin. Shilin Jumped back and growled louder. "I said back off!" The bear growled and began to climb up the tree towards Shilin. Crap! Well, guess I'll have to come back later. Shilin scrambled up the tree as quickly as she could, leaving the bear far behind. Shilin Climbed all the way to the top, dangling from the thin branch. Well now what? Shilin looked around then spotted a small cloud close by. Perfect! Shilin Crouched, then pounced, aiming strait for the cloud…and landed right on top. Below, the bear let out a sound of confusion and watched in awe at Shilin. Shilin snorted. "What, never seen a fox walk on a cloud?" Shilin turned away from the bear and jumped onto another cloud. And another. And another. She continued to jump clouds until she was far from the tree with the honey and the bear, then she lay down on a nice fluffy cloud to rest. Just as she was about to fall asleep, she noticed something flying above her. It was coming closer and closer. When she realized what it was, she froze. Impossible! For right in front of her stood a many tailed kitsune.  It looked at her with glowing eyes and said "Shilin, you are the goddess of wind"
